Video footage of our trip to West Park Lunatic Asylum, in March 2011. There's not a huge amount of this place left to see as it's being gradually converted into a huge housing estate, but it was originally a huge place covering some 63 acres and a veritable treasure for Urban Explorers. A great loss but inevitable eventually that such an enormous brownfield site would not escape redevelopment forever. Thankfully, Noble Park as it will become known, incorporates at least a few of the original buildings and it looks as though the Admin block and Water Tower will become key features of the redevelopment. There are the remains of 4 other Lunatic Asylums in the local viscinity - Long Grove, Horton, Manor and St. Ebbas being the others. All have now been converted into housing estates or demolished.
